Dysautonomia refers to a range of disorders of the autonomic nervous system. This is the most basic part of our nervous system that controls body functions such as heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, and GI function. When any part of the autonomic nervous system is out of balance, symptoms can result.
Symptoms of dysautonomia include:
– headache, particularly migraine
– lightheadedness
– GI dysmotility (constipation, gastroparesis, IBS, etc)
– abnormally high heart rate and POTS
– high blood pressure / hypertension
At Synchrony Health, we treat dysautonomia with a multi-pronged approach. Therapy focuses on neurovestibular rehab to rebalance the autonomic nervous system. To support this treatment, we recommend hyperbaric oxygen, craniosacral therapy, and lifestyle/nutritional evaluation and support.
Dr. Wolf has completed over 550 hours of study in clinical neuroscience, including courses dedicated to the function of the autonomic nervous system and treatment of dysautonomia.
Testing available at Synchrony Health includes more than the standard tilt-table test done in most cardiology practices. Dr. Wolf will used advanced, non-invasive equipment to examine every aspect of the autonomic nervous system, even getting down to how the brain regulates blood flow. Learn more here.
