Somatoemotional Release

Somatoemotional release (SER) taps into pain and muscle tension that has origins in a traumatic experience. Many times we are unaware of the events trapped within our body because they can be subtle or not perceived as “trauma.” However, the body can remember these individual experiences and remind us of them in the form of pain that won’t go away.

Using a gentle, hands-on approach, traumatic experiences can be released from where it is being held. You may notice nothing occurring during the therapy, but most people will recall an event as the memory retained in your body’s tissue is released. Dr. Wolf will guide you through the exploration and release of these memories.

SER is similar to somatic experiencing. If you are interested in reading more information on this topic, consider borrowing or purchasing The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk.
